Can I just wish everyone a happy new year, especially the good folks of our emergency services who’ve been working tonight…
…and especially the fire crews who came out to the [thankfully] empty house next door at 5am this morning after we were woken up by its smoke alarm going off and the acrid smell of smoke.

However, on Internet Explorer (I have no choice, honest guv’nor) I see no text in the main body of the page until I have scrolled down some considerable way. So unless really determined, you’d get the impression that the blog is blank. Just thought you should know.
