It would be cracking to see Kennedy as AG. I would very much recommend 'Just Law'. I'm not sure Michael Mansfield is, by contrast, altogether reformist. I shan't recommend your post, but I will attempt to glibly coerce you. Do feel free to incorporate, for this short time only, a button... ;0) Beautifully spoken. Good to see your support for Jon Cruddas though. Mike Ion's got an interview with him on his site if you've got a few minutes to spare. Wot, no Ed Balls? I agree, but I fear that Blair has eviscerated any capacity for that from the Labour party, not least because he seemed to have no sense of those roots in the first place, either for himself or in relation to the party he's led. Are there 'deprogrammers' for political parties which have become personality cults? Cruddas seems to be the only one making a consistent and wide-ranging analysis of what's gone wrong, and what needs to be done next. Harman's problem is that she seems not to have developed that critique beyond a notional 'women's vote', which is a pity. The fact that Blears got enough nominations (with prominent endorsements from the Lapsed Trots for Blair faction) is proof There Is No God. Not even an endorsement from Nelson Mandela is going to save Hain. As for Johnson, either he's settling down to be a competent, but low-profile minister, or he was a flash in the plan as the articulatre version of John Prescott. I'd have been tempted for Benn, but yeah, the Foreign Office beckons. “That’s what I’m looking for from this idea of renewal - a real sense that what it means is an desire for and effort to rebuild the intellectual and philosophical foundations of the Labour movement.”

Partly because he was the minister responsible when the tories opposed carers leave, maternity etc and also because he had to get the education bill through - Camerons first chance to make a mark.Of the contenders i think he is the best at dealing with the Eton crowd . ALso thought you might be interested in Praguetoy's latest contortions. http://www.thestirrer.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=3902#3902 Im a cruddas fan but in Johnson’s favour he finds it easy to disable Camerons ‘carers matter” schtick .
